SUMMARY:Fourth Anniversary of Lama Norlha Rinpoche's Passing
DESCRIPTION:In light of concerns about the coronavirus outbreak\, to protect the well-being and safety of everyone\, Palpung Thubten Chöling Monastery remains closed to the public. \n  \n\nPlease join us in remembering Lama Rinpoche’s\ngreat kindness and blessings.\nLama Norlha Rinpoche in Memoriam 1938-2018 \n  \nEarly Morning | Thousandfold Lamp Offering (Tong Chö) \nA traditional Tong Chö of 1\,000 butter lamps\, 1\,000 bowls of saffron water and 300 bowls filled with rice\, incense and flowers accompanied by chanting of the Chenrezig practice.\nWe are praying for everyone to be safe and healthy. Please feel free to sponsor the offerings and send in your prayers. \n  \n  \n  \nThe next chanting sessions are being offered remotely on Zoom. If you would like to participate please click here. \n10:00 am | Kalu Rinpoche’s Practice of Aspiration Prayers (Monlam Choga)\, followed by the Short Practice of the Peaceful & Wrathful Deities (Shitro)\nChanting of the Monlam Choga\, a practice of offering and aspiration prayers compiled by Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche. This is followed by the short liturgy of Shitro (Peaceful and Wrathful Deities)\, a profound practice from the cycle of teachings and meditations of the Tibetan Book of the Dead. We dedicate this practice to the deceased in order to purify negativities\, avert obstacles in the bardo\, and establish a connection with the deities that will ripen in future lives. \n2:00 pm | Chanting The King of Aspiration Prayers (Zangchö Monlam) and Calling the Lama From Afar\nCalling the Lama from Afar was written by the great master Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye\, this text is a powerful supplication to invoke the blessings of the lama and the great masters of all four Tibetan Buddhist lineages.  A combination of profound meditation instruction and plain-spoken reminders about the way we can delude ourselves on the path\, this melodiously sung devotional prayer is an inspiration for practitioners of all levels. \nTo join us with the chanting please click on the following links to download each text: \n\nKalu Rinpoche’s Practice of Aspiration Prayers (Monlam Choga)\nCalling the Lama from Afar\nKagyu Monlam Book
