DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to welcome Chonyi Rinpoche at Palpung Thubten Choling November 5–6. Chonyi Gyamtso Rinpoche was born in Yunnan province in 1978. He was recognized as the 14th tulku of Orgyen Lungzin Chonyi Gyamtso by Guru Vajradhara His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa in 2003. Rinpoche travels the world teaching the Buddhadharma. While keeping to traditional dharma topics\, Rinpoche uses modern colloquial language\, examples from daily life\, and humor in his own refreshing presentation of the dharma. Traditionally practiced in charnel grounds by wandering yogis\, Chöd is a sacred meditation that dissolves fear and ego-clinging into the expanse of luminous awareness. \n  \nSunday Nov 6:\n10:00 am  |  White Tara Empowerment\nWhite Tara is a fully enlightened buddha associated with long life\, healing\, and protection. SUMMARY:The Perfection of Merit for Lhabap Duchen: Nyungne\, the Fasting Ritual and Meditation of Thousand-Armed Chenrezig
DESCRIPTION:About Nyungnye and Lhabap Duchen \nBuddhahood is the state in which one spontaneously and effortlessly benefits oneself and all beings without exception. In order to attain this state\, we must perfect the accumulations of merit and wisdom. Through the perfection of the two accumulations\, we purify our notions of self and other and realize the true nature of mind. \nThe resident sangha of PTC will be participating in the practice of Nyungne (the Fasting Ritual and Meditation of Thousand-Armed Chenrezig). The Nyungne practice is a profound kriya tantra meditation ritual based on loving-kindness and compassion in the form of Thousand-Armed Chenrezig. The practice involves maintaining strict vows and meditating while reciting mantras and prayers\, and performing prostrations and visualizations. Undertaken in sets of two days\, the first day includes one vegetarian meal at noon\, drinking water throughout the day as needed. The second day is a complete fast performed in noble silence. The Nyungne is renowned as a superior means to purify negative karma and accumulate great merit. \nThe fasting day for this Nyungne falls on November 15\, the auspicious occasion of Lhabap Duchen\, commemorating Lord Buddha’s return from the Tushita realm.
