DESCRIPTION:Commemoration of Chotrul Duchen and the Anniversary of Milarepa\nFebruary 27\, 2021 (Saturday)\nIn light of concerns about the coronavirus outbreak\, to protect the well-being and safety of everyone\, Palpung Thubten Chöling Monastery remains closed to the public.  \nThe anniversary of Milarepa auspiciously coincides with Chotrul Duchen\, the ‘Festival of Miracles’ which occurs on the full moon of the first Tibetan month\, and commemorates the Buddha performing fifteen days of miracles in order to inspire devotion in his disciples. On Chotrul Duchen\, all positive and negative actions are said to be multiplied 10 million times. \n6:30 am | Thousandfold Lamp Offering (Tong Chö)\nA traditional Tong Chö of 1\,000 butter lamps\, 1\,000 bowls of saffron water and 300 bowls filled with rice\, incense and flowers accompanied by chanting of the Chenrezig practice. \n \nThe next chanting sessions are being offered remotely on Zoom. If you would like to participate please email Lama Lhadrun. \n10:00 am | Kalu Rinpoche’s Practice of Aspiration Prayers (Monlam Choga)\, followed by the Short Practice of the Peaceful & Wrathful Deities (Shitro)\nChanting of the Monlam Choga\, a practice of offering and aspiration prayers compiled by Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche. This is followed by the short liturgy of Shitro (Peaceful and Wrathful Deities)\, a profound practice from the cycle of teachings and meditations of the Tibetan Book of the Dead. We dedicate this practice to the deceased in order to purify negativities\, avert obstacles in the bardo\, and establish a connection with the deities that will ripen in future lives \n2:00 pm | Chanting of Milarepa Practice with Feast Offering (Tsok)\nMilarepa is the most beloved yogi and poet of Tibet and one of the forefathers of the Kagyu lineage revered for his inspirational life story and profound songs of realization. DESCRIPTION:Losar (Tibetan and Chinese New Year) Schedule 2021\n法林寺除障祈福新年法會\nYear of the Iron Ox\nClearing Obstacles for the New Year\nFebruary 8 – 12\, 2021\nIn light of concerns about the coronavirus outbreak\, to protect the well-being and safety of everyone\, Palpung Thubten Chöling Monastery remains closed to the public. \nThe resident sangha of PTC will be participating in a variety of chanting events to dispel obstacles and bring about auspicious conditions.  The dates are listed below. \n  \nFebruary 8\, 9 & 10 (Monday\, Tuesday & Wednesday) \n9:00 am | Mahakala Chanting (Tsendring\, the extended version of the Protector Bernachen practice)\n\n \nFebruary 10 (Wednesday) \nRitual to Reverse Impending Death (Chiblu) inserted inside Mahakala Chanting (Tsendring above)\n\n \nFebruary 11 (Thursday) \n2:00 pm | Evening Fire Offering (Sür) \nThe evening fire offering averts obstacles and sickness\, clears away karmic debts\, and is dedicated to those who are dying and deceased. \n  \nFebruary 12 (Tuesday)| Losar Day – First Day of the Tibetan and Chinese New Year \n5:30 am | Welcome in the New Year with the traditional playing of instruments\n6:00 am | Morning Fire Offering (Sang) \n9:00 am | Lighting of 500 Butterlamps\n9:30 am | Prayers for long life and auspicious conditions for the new year. \n  \n HOW TO PARTICIPATE FROM HOME\nTo view the 2/8-10 Mahakala chanting and the 2/12 9:30am Losar chanting via Zoom\, please email Lama Lhadrun by February 7th. \n  \nFor those who wish to sponsor the chanting\, donations can be made towards meals\, fire offering ceremonies\, or the tea served during the chanting. General contributions towards these special practices are also welcome. Be sure to include a prayer with your donation which will be read aloud to the assembly. \nIt is customary to make “changbu” (squeezing a small slice of bread in your left hand\, leaving imprints) to place in the Chiblu box. You may mail a changbu\, along with pieces of fingernails\, stands of hair and loose change to be placed inside the Chiblu box. DESCRIPTION:November 10 – 24\, 2020\nIn light of the coronavirus outbreak\, to protect the well-being and safety of everyone\, Palpung Thubten Chöling Monastery remains closed to the public.\n \nThe resident sangha of PTC will be participating in a variety of chanting events to dispel obstacles and bring about auspicious conditions.  The dates are listed below. \nNov 10\, Tuesday | Gya Shi\, “The Practice of the Four Hundred Offerings”\nGya Shi is a practice involving four hundred offerings which is done as a means to purify obstacles created by the 4 maras (mental afflictions; attachment to happiness; clinging to the 5 skandhas; death).  The four hundred offerings are described in the practice text below: \n\nNamo!\nThe vast offerings of Gya Shi are dedicated to the accumulation of merit and wisdom.\nThrough the blessings of offering 100 tsa-tsa\, may all beings engage in the 10 virtues and give up the 10 non-virtues.\nThrough the merit of offering 100 butterlamps\, may all beings clear away the darkness of ignorance so that the 5 wisdoms may be realized.\nThrough the merit of offering 100 tormas\, may all beings be free from famine.\nThrough the merit of offering 100 chambu (effigies)\, may all beings purify all karmic debt which makes harmful hindrances.\nThough the blessing of reciting the profound sutras\, may all beings always turn the wheel of dharma. Through the roots of virtue of offering 400\, may myself and all patrons and their loved ones repay all karmic debts. May we perfect the two accumulations and attain the precious level of unsurpassable enlightenment.\n\nNov 11\, Wednesday | Sherab Nyingpo\, a practice based on the Heart Sutra \n \nSherab Nyingpo is an obstacle averting practice that dispels unfavorable circumstances and prompts good conditions.
