DESCRIPTION:The PTC sangha will be commemorating Chökor Duchen\, the day that Buddha Shakyamuni first turned the Wheel of Dharma\, teaching the Four Noble Truths. \nAfter the Buddha realized awakening beneath the Bodhi tree\, he remained in contemplation. At first he was reluctant to teach\, fearing that people would not understand his message. Finally\, encouraged by Indra and Brahma\, he shared his discovery of the truth in his first teaching. This auspicious day is a “multiplying day” on which karmic results are said to be multiplied by one hundred million\, so we make this a joyful opportunity to practice extra virtue. \n\n6:30am | Thousandfold Lamp Offering (Tong Chö)\nA traditional Tong Chö of 1\,000 butter lamps\, 1\,000 bowls of saffron water and 300 bowls filled with rice\, incense and flowers is offered weekly\, accompanied by chanting of the Chenrezig practice. \n  \nThe following chanting session is being offered in person and on Zoom.  If you would like to participate remotely\, please click here. \n  \n10:00am | Kalu Rinpoche’s Practice of Aspiration Prayers (Monlam Choga)\, followed by the Short Practice of the Peaceful & Wrathful Deities (Shitro)\nChanting of the Monlam Choga\, a practice of offering and aspiration prayers compiled by Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche. This is followed by the short liturgy of Shitro (Peaceful and Wrathful Deities)\, a profound practice from the cycle of teachings and meditations of the Tibetan Book of the Dead. SUMMARY:Chenrezig Empowerment & Bodhisattva Vow
DESCRIPTION:His Eminence Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche will bestow the Chenrezig Empowerment followed by the Bodhisattva Vow. \n10:30 am | Chenrezig Empowerment & Bodhisattva Vow \nThe deity Chenrezig is the embodiment of compassion\, and represents the intention of bodhicitta that leads to awakening. Practicing the profound sadhana of Chenrezig with awareness\, we can attain Chenrezig’s enlightened body\, speech\, and mind. \nTaking the Bodhisattva Vow reinforces our commitment to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. Please note that it is customary to make offerings to the Buddha when receiving the Bodhisattva Vow.  Offerings of fruit\, incense\, flowers or other traditional shrine offerings are welcomed. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony to set up your offerings with the help of the shrine attendant. \nA kata (white offering scarf) may be offered to Rinpoche after the conclusion of the ceremony as thanks for having received the empowerment and Bodhisattva Vow. \nRinpoche will give Refuge to those who have not yet received it during this session. \nFor Chinese translation in-person:  Please bring your own devices (smartphones or tablets) with headphones and Zoom app installed. Those devices with no cellular service may connect to the guest WiFi. Please bring a power bank or juice box if needed. \nDonations are appreciated but not required to attend this events. \nThis event is In-Person Only. There is no on-line registration. \nDue to a private retreat that will be in progress\, overnight accommodation will not be available. The doors for the empowerment will open at 9:00 am. Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche \nIn 1983\, His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa enthroned Gyalton Tulku Rinpoche of Rumtek Monastery. After finishing his university studies\, Rinpoche returned to Palpung Sherabling to study under the guidance of Kenting Tai Situpa and other gurus. HE Gyalton Rinpoche is a close disciple and heart son of HH Tai Situpa\, and has taught at Palpung centers in Asia\, Europe\, and North America. He is one of the main teachers of the Palpung study and practice program Discovering the Buddha Within. SUMMARY:Commemoration of Buddha Joyful Day
DESCRIPTION:2:00 pm | Amitabha Sadhana and Jangchok Purification Ritual \nIn commemoration of Buddha Joyful Day\, we are honored to have H.E. Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche preside over this sacred ceremony. \nPlease join us in a special recitation of the Amitabha sadhana\, with tsok (feast offering)\, dedicated to our loved ones\, both living and deceased. \nThe Jangchok ritual is especially performed to help the recently deceased achieve liberation. During the ceremony\, the names of the deceased are blessed and burned to symbolize purification of their defilements\, obscurities and negative karma by the fire of wisdom\, ripening their merit to be reborn in Amitabha’s pureland of Dewachen. \nThe practice also brings blessings and auspicious connections for loved ones who passed away a long time ago\, as well as the living. If you would like to include your loved ones’ names for dedication (both living and deceased) please download the Amitabha Sadhana Dedication Form in Chinese and English. You may donate any amount.
