DESCRIPTION:About Nyungnye and Lhabab Duchen \nBuddhahood is the state in which one spontaneously and effortlessly benefits oneself and all beings without exception. In order to attain this state\, we must perfect the accumulations of merit and wisdom. Through the perfection of the two accumulations\, we purify our notions of self and other and realize the true nature of mind. \nLhabab Duchen is the auspicious occasion commemorating Lord Buddha’s return from the Tushita realm. It is said to be a time when the merit accumulated through performing virtuous activity is multiplied. \nThis year\, Lhabab Duchen falls on Friday\, November 22. Throughout the weekend before this date\, the resident sangha of PTC will be participating in the practice of Nyungne (the Fasting Ritual and Meditation of Thousand-Armed Chenrezig). The Nyungne practice is a profound kriya tantra meditation ritual based on loving-kindness and compassion in the form of Thousand-Armed Chenrezig. The practice involves maintaining strict vows and meditating while reciting mantras and prayers\, and performing prostrations and visualizations. Undertaken in sets of two days\, the first day includes one vegetarian meal at noon\, drinking water throughout the day as needed. The Nyungne is renowned as a superior means to purify negative karma and accumulate great merit. \n. \nThis event is in-person only. It will not be accessible remotely. \n  \nGuests are welcome to participate in the Nyungne but please note – it is necessary to arrive at PTC by 8:00 pm the evening before as the practice begins as early as 5:00 am each day. \nGuests attending a nyungne for the first time must speak to Lama Lhadrun before doing this practice. DESCRIPTION:The anniversary of Milarepa auspiciously coincides with Chotrul Duchen\, the ‘Festival of Miracles’ which occurs on the full moon of the first Tibetan month\, and commemorates the Buddha performing fifteen days of miracles in order to inspire devotion in his disciples. On Chotrul Duchen\, all positive and negative actions are said to be multiplied 10 million times. \nMilarepa is the most beloved yogi and poet of Tibet and one of the forefathers of the Kagyu lineage revered for his inspirational life story and profound songs of realization. The Guru Yoga of Milarepa is an essential practice of the Kagyu lineage in which the transmission of devotion becomes the basis of Mahamudra. \n  \n6:30 am | Thousandfold Lamp Offering (Tong Chö)\nA traditional Tong Chö of 1\,000 butter lamps\, 1\,000 bowls of saffron water and 300 bowls filled with rice\, incense and flowers accompanied by chanting of the Chenrezig practice. \nThe following sessions will also be available on Zoom. SUMMARY:Amitabha Chanting for Liberating the Deceased and Benefiting Beings (Qing Ming) - 清明節法會
DESCRIPTION:清明節法會\n  \nThe sangha of PTC will be making prayers and offerings for our parents\, ancestors\, and the deceased through a special recitation of the Amitabha sadhana with tsok offerings and aspiration prayers for the well being of ourselves and all other beings\, especially those to whom we dedicate the practice by name\, both living and deceased. \nThe practice entitled ‘Jangchok’ will be included within the chanting of the Amitabha sadhana.  Jangchok is done for the benefit of the recently deceased to achieve liberation.  For persons who may have passed away a long time ago the Jangchok practice will still bring great blessings to the deceased and create the causes and conditions for the liberation of the person.  For the living\, it is said that once their karmic debtors are liberated through this practice\, the person will have less obstacles.  For all beings\, this practice will help to create favorable conditions and enhance their well-being. \nDuring the chanting Lama Tsering Dakpa will bless and burn all the names of the deceased to symbolize purification of their defilements\, obscurities and negative karma by the fire of wisdom\, ripening their merit to be reborn in Amitabha’s pureland of Dewachen. DESCRIPTION:  \nEVENT REGISTRATION: Discovering The Buddha Within\nLevel I\, Inner Peace\nMay 1-4\, 2025 \n了解更多\n \nDiscovering the Buddha Within is an experiential learning program of the Buddha Dharma created as part of the vast vision of Guru Vajradhara His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa. \nThe three-year program consists of three levels: Level I\, Inner Peace\, Level 2\, Awakened Heart\, and Level 3\, Original Purity. \nLevel I focuses on calming the mind and developing insight and wisdom through some simple yet profound study\, meditations\, and contemplations derived from the Shravakayana teachings of the Buddha. Awareness meditations and precise knowledge will allow students to discover inner peace\, accept and let go of worldly concerns without grasping at or rejecting them\, and develop a stable aspiration for genuine freedom. Guided meditations and question-and-answer sessions will help students learn how to start a daily meditation practice at home. \nFor those new to Buddhism\, the practice commitment is to practice at least 10 minutes every day for a minimum of 30 consecutive days. For those who are already practicing the Buddha Dharma\, their actual practice will work as the commitment. \nFor Chinese translation in-person:  Please bring your own devices (smartphones or tablets) with headphones and Zoom app installed. DESCRIPTION:The resident sangha of PTC will be commemorating the anniversary of our root lama Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche‘s parinirvana — the day he left his body and entered the Pure Realms. \nSchedule of events: \n6:30 am | Thousandfold Lamp Offering (Tong Chö) \nA traditional Tong Chö of 1\,000 butter lamps\, 1\,000 bowls of saffron water and 300 bowls filled with rice\, incense and flowers is offered weekly\, accompanied by chanting of the Chenrezig practice. \n\nThe next chanting session is being offered in person and on Zoom. If you would like to participate remotely\, please use our online event registration form.   \n10:00 am | Kalu Rinpoche’s Practice of Aspiration Prayers (Monlam Choga)\, followed by the Short Practice of the Peaceful & Wrathful Deities (Shitro) \nChanting of the Monlam Choga\, a practice of offering and aspiration prayers compiled by Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche. This is followed by the short liturgy of Shitro (Peaceful and Wrathful Deities)\, a profound practice from the cycle of teachings and meditations of the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
