DESCRIPTION:Please join us in the chanting of the Monlam Choga\, a practice of offering and aspiration prayers compiled by Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche. This is followed by the short liturgy of Shitro (Peaceful and Wrathful Deities)\, a profound practice from the cycle of teachings and meditations of the Tibetan Book of the Dead. To join the chanting please download Kalu Rinpoche’s Practice of Aspiration Prayers (Monlam Choga). \n  \nPlease do not visit the monastery if you feel unwell and/or have a fever. \nWe urge all program participants to take precautions against the ongoing risk of COVID through protection such as having up-to-date vaccinations\, wearing a good-quality mask indoors\, washing hands and maintaining physical distance. \nMasks and hand sanitizer will be available at all entryways. \nMany thanks to all of you for your support in keeping this event as safe as possible! \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Study Group on the Ornament of Precious Liberation
DESCRIPTION:This class will be facilitated by Lamas Depa and Lhadrun. Our primary source\, Ornament of Precious Liberation\, by the great master of the Kagyu lineage\, Lord Gampopa\, is considered a spiritual classic of Tibetan Buddhism. HH 17th Karmapa shares in his foreword to the book\, that “this text has the power of a direct transmission from master to student” and that Gampopa himself promised that studying this text would be the same as receiving the teachings directly from him. \nIn order to develop our understanding of this profound work\, we will also be referring to Path to Buddhahood\, a very accessible and illuminating commentary by Ringu Tulku. \nThe books used will be:\nOrnament of Precious Liberation\, translator Ken Holmes\, Wisdom Publications\nPath to Buddhahood\, by Ringu Tulku\, Shambala \nThe material will be screen-shared each class\, so it is not necessary to buy the books. The class is open to all levels of experience\, and anyone is welcome to join at any time without attending previous sessions. There is no charge for participating. \n  \nThese classes are being offered in person and on Zoom. If you would like to participate remotely\, please use our online event registration form. \nPlease do not visit the monastery if you feel unwell and/or have a fever.

SUMMARY:Thursday evenings - Alternating Practices: Medicine Buddha and Chenrezig
DESCRIPTION:7:30 pm – 8:30 pm \nThese chanting sessions are being offered in person and on Zoom. If you would like to participate remotely\, please use our online event registration form. \n  \nFirst and third Thursday of each month | Medicine Buddha Practice and The Verses that Saved Sakya from Sickness  \n \nPlease join us as we chant this essential practice which can increase our healing powers so that we can help those in our lives who are struggling with illness and obstacles and also remove our own physical and mental suffering. An abbreviated version of the Chenrezig practice is inserted in the prayer which follows\, known as the Verses that Saved Sakya from Sickness. \n  \nSecond\, fourth and fifth Thursday of each month | Chenrezig Practice \n \nPlease join us as we chant and meditate in order to realize our inborn great compassion.  Guru Vajradhara Tai Situ Rinpoche has said that\, “Chenrezig is the embodiment of compassion\, Bodhicitta. We reach Buddhahood intentionally\, and the intention is Bodhicitta. That is what Chenrezig represents. The Chenrezig Sadhana is the most sacred and profound sadhana. By practicing it with awareness\, you can attain Chenrezig’s enlightened body\, speech\, and mind.” \n  \nThe liturgies are being screen shared and are translated as well as written phonetically. You can chant along\, or silently read the translation. \nThese sessions are free of charge. \n
