DESCRIPTION:7:30 pm – 8:30 pm \nThese chanting sessions are being offered in person and on Zoom. If you would like to participate remotely\, please use our online event registration form. \n  \nFirst and third Thursday of each month | Medicine Buddha Practice and The Verses that Saved Sakya from Sickness  \n \nPlease join us as we chant this essential practice which can increase our healing powers so that we can help those in our lives who are struggling with illness and obstacles and also remove our own physical and mental suffering. You can chant along\, or silently read the translation. \nThese sessions are free of charge. \n  \nPlease do not visit the monastery if you feel unwell and/or have a fever. \nWe urge all program participants to take precautions against the ongoing risk of COVID through protection such as having up-to-date vaccinations\, wearing a good-quality mask indoors\, washing hands and maintaining physical distance. \nMasks and hand sanitizer will be available at all entryways. \nMany thanks to all of you for your support in keeping this event as safe as possible! \n

SUMMARY:Commemoration of Lhabab Duchen: Nyungne\, the Fasting Ritual and Meditation of Thousand-Armed Chenrezig
DESCRIPTION:About Nyungnye and Lhabab Duchen \nBuddhahood is the state in which one spontaneously and effortlessly benefits oneself and all beings without exception. In order to attain this state\, we must perfect the accumulations of merit and wisdom. Through the perfection of the two accumulations\, we purify our notions of self and other and realize the true nature of mind. \nLhabab Duchen is the auspicious occasion commemorating Lord Buddha’s return from the Tushita realm. It is said to be a time when the merit accumulated through performing virtuous activity is multiplied. \nThis year\, Lhabab Duchen falls on Tuesday\, November 11. To commemorate this occasion\, the resident sangha of PTC will be participating in the practice of Nyungne (the Fasting Ritual and Meditation of Thousand-Armed Chenrezig). The Nyungne practice is a profound kriya tantra meditation ritual based on loving-kindness and compassion in the form of Thousand-Armed Chenrezig. The practice involves maintaining strict vows and meditating while reciting mantras and prayers\, and performing prostrations and visualizations. Undertaken in sets of two days\, the first day includes one vegetarian meal at noon\, drinking water throughout the day as needed. The Nyungne is renowned as a superior means to purify negative karma and accumulate great merit. \n. \nThis event is in-person only. It will not be accessible remotely. \n  \nGuests are welcome to participate in the Nyungne but please note – it is necessary to arrive at PTC by 8:00 pm the evening before as the practice begins as early as 5:00 am each day. \nGuests attending a nyungne for the first time must speak to Lama Lhadrun before doing this practice. Please contact her by email  or call 845-297-2500 (leaving both your name and phone number so that she can get back to you). \nWe do suggest that guests try to come for the 1st day of the nyungne set\, but if that is not practical\, it is still possible to participate any day of the practice. For further details for how to participate in this way\, please follow the contact instructions above. \n  \nNyungne prices: includes meals and room accommodations.  Please note that accommodations are only open to program participants.  \n  \nType of Accommodation                                      Non-Member / Member \nDormitory                                                                   $50 / $30\nDouble Occupancy Room Guest House                   $70 / $50\nPrivate Room Guest House                                       $90 / $70\nDouble Occupancy Room Maitreya Center               $110 / $90\nPrivate Room Maitreya Center                                  $130 / $110 \n  \n  \nTO REGISTER PLEASE CLICK HERE \nDeadline for Registration is November 2 \n  \nThere are many ways to share in the merit of this event through sponsoring the chanting\, the tea served during the chanting\, and the lunch. \nYou may also simply mail your tax-deductible contribution to:\nPalpung Thubten Chöling\nAttn: Office\n245 Sheafe Road\, Wappingers Falls\, NY 12590. \nPlease make checks payable to Palpung Thubten Choling or PTC. If you are not able to do that\, please leave a short but clear message of your prayer on 845-297-2500 and we will do our best to have your prayer announced. \n  \nPlease do not visit the monastery if you feel unwell and/or have a fever. \nWe urge all program participants to take precautions against the ongoing risk of COVID through protection such as wearing a mask indoors and washing hands. \nMasks and hand sanitizer will be available at all entryways. \nMany thanks to all of you for your support in keeping this event as safe as possible! \n
