The observance of Buddha’s Joyful Day on the full moon day of the seventh lunar month is based on the story of Maudgalyayana, a disciple of the Buddha. Buddha’s Joyful Day is observed by making offerings of necessities to monastics, reciting sūtras and performing acts of generosity.

The featured book will be Moody Cow Meditates by Kerry Lee MacLean, and is recommended for ages 4-8, but all ages are welcome. The session will also include a brief introduction to meditation, which we hope will be helpful in these especially stressful times.

Lama Norgyal will be teaching on and leading the sangha in the chanting of Calling the Lama from Afar. Written by the great master Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye, this text is a powerful supplication to invoke the blessings of the lama and the great masters of all four Tibetan Buddhist lineages.

09/26/20 Thousandfold Lamps & Offerings (Tong Chö)

A traditional Tong Chö of 1,000 butter lamps, 1,000 bowls of saffron water and 300 bowls filled with rice, incense and flowers is offered weekly, accompanied by chanting of the Chenrezig practice. (Free of charge)
